Degree-seeking Program
While the majority of students in the Degree-seeking Program are Japanese nationals, Akita International University welcomes students of all nationalities to study and earn degrees in Global Business or Global Studies.
Students in the Degree-seeking Program begin with the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Program to ensure that their language abilities are up to the demands of our all-English curriculum. Once students pass EAP and achieve the necessary TOEFL score, they progress to the Basic Education courses. Here, students acquire knowledge and skills in a wide variety of fields.
Then, students specialize in Global Business or Global Studies. The Global Studies Program is further delineated into three concentrations: North American Studies, East Asian Studies, and Transnational Studies. A key part of the Degree-seeking Program is the requirement to study abroad for a year at one of our partner institutions around the world.
