50 Short-term International Students Ready for Summer Program!

On June 23, 2009, Akita International University welcomed 50 additional international students from 8 countries and regions who will participate in our Summer Program.

While 107 international students from 19 countries and regions around the world have already been studying with us in the spring semester 2009, these short-term students will stay with us until August 4, 2009.  The following is a list of countries represented by the new group:

These new international students will take intensive Japanese language courses to bolster their Japanese language skills, while deepening their understanding of people and culture in Japan and Asia. Students will also take Japan Studies courses such as tea ceremony, flower arrangement, and calligraphy. Opportunities to appreciate music history and to wear the Japanese traditional outfit, Kimono, will also be offered. In addition, bus trips will be arranged for international students to enjoy sightseeing spots and to appreciate local culture in Akita.
