Ambassador Lecture Series Started at AIU!

September 15, 2009

Commemorating its 5th year, Akita International University proudly presents the Ambassador Lecture Series, the overall theme of which is “The Future of the International Community and the Role of Japan.”

This grand project was organized by the university with the hope to give students at AIU and community members of Akita intellectual stimuli so they can understand the current events and problems/solutions of this globalized world from the standpoint of top diplomats of the world who work in Japan. This lecture series is scheduled to take place a total of ten times, three times in 2009 and seven times in 2010. All lectures are offered in English and Japanese.

The first lecture was conducted on Sunday, September 13, welcoming His Excellency Mr David Warren, the British Ambassador to Japan.  The lecture hall of the university was packed with students, faculty members, and community members who were enthusiastic about how each of them can contribute to the world.

The second lecture will be held next month with the Honorable Hugh Richardson, Ambassador, Head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Japan. The lecture will take place at AIU on Friday, November 13, 2009. The third lecture will be conducted by the Ambassador of France to Japan, the Honorable Philippe Faure, on Friday, December 4, 2009.
