To prepare themselves for their new life at AIU, all new students go through a week-long orientation.

Orientation sessions include:
Academic Orientation, Student Life Orientation, Computer Orientation, Library Orientation, Information on Culture Shock, Community Outreach, Immigration Paperwork, and information on Health, Medicine, and Emergencies.

But the orientation is not just one information session after another. Students have numerous icebreaking sessions and activities to help them get to know the people they will be studying and living with. These icebreaking sessions include a welcome dinner, shamisen (traditional Japanese string instrument) concert, and photo scavenger hunt.

In addition to staff, current AIU students also assist new students as Peer Supporters. These peer supporters help out with campus tours, carrying luggage, checking students into their rooms, filling out immigration paperwork, and more. This year, all the peer supporters will wear the pink t-shirts pictured below so new students can easily identify them and get help if they need it. It is because of these peer supporters, as well as the efforts of faculty and staff, that new students can transition smoothly into their lives here at AIU.

We wish all the new students the best of luck in this new chapter of their lives. May you have an enriching, enlightening, and entertaining time here! Ganbattekudasai!
