Housing Information

Akita International University provides a genuine cross-cultural environment for all of its students. Exchange and non degree-seeking international students are guaranteed housing in either the Komachi Dormitory, the Global Village Apartments, or the Univeristy Village Apartments. Please carefully note that international students usually share a room with a Japanese student.

Each room of the Komachi Dormitory has a phone that can be used to call other phones in Komachi Hall only. The Global Village Apartments and University Village Apartments are not equipped with phones. There is a pay phone in the Komachi Dormitory lobby, and phone cards for domestic and international calling are available at the store on campus. Students are recommended to purchase a cellular phone or to use an Internet telephone service, such as Skype, while in Japan so their families and friends can easily contact them.
