Komachi Dormitory

All degree-seeking students in their first year, are required to stay in the Komachi Dormitory for one academic year. This provides a variety of opportunities for international students to interact with local students and better both their Japanese skills and understanding of Japanese culture.

Living closely with other students from all over Japan, and with international students from all over the world, gives students the chance to see the world from myriad perspectives and appreciate the differences and similarities of world cultures.

Komachi Dormitory

There is a student lounge with satellite television, mail boxes, and a facility management office with security attendants on duty. Komachi Dormitory students eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the Cafeteria adjacent to Komachi Dormitory. See Dining Information for details.

Size	21.48m²
Bath/Toilet	Every two rooms share a common bath, toilet and sink by 3 or 4 students. See the layout below.

Kitchen	A large common kitchen space is available on the first floor.
Furniture	Bed, desk, desk lamp, chair, small refrigerator, bookshelf, drawers, Internet connection (a LAN cable is needed). A vacuum cleaner, futon dryer, iron and ironing board can be borrowed for free from the Residence Hall Office. Every floor has a laundry room (Laundry and dryer cycles are 40 minutes long and cost 100 JPY each).  It is possible to rent bedding from the university for the duration of your stay.

Room & Board

Room & board fees include rent, meals (while classes are in session), electricity, water, internet access, and a cleaning fee. Payments for an academic year can be made all at once, or in two installments. The following fees are for the academic year 2011 and thus subject to change.

Room & Board	433,000 JPY per year
Breakdown:
Rent	230,000 JPY (Spring Semester: 100,000 JPY, Fall Semester: 130,000 JPY)
3 Meals/Day	100,000 JPY per semester. This fee is tentative and may increase. These prices do not include meals during Golden Week (May), Summer Vacation (August), and Winter Program (January - March).
Cleaning Fee	3,000 JPY (One-time fee to clean the room after the student has move out.)

※ Please note that exchange students coming from AIU partner schools may only be responsible for some of these fees. For more information, please consult your home institution's study abroad office.

※ Students entering in Fall Semester should be aware that prices in the following Spring Semester may differ slightly.
