University Village Apartments

Apartments

After completing their first year at AIU and living in the Komachi Dormitory, most degree-seeking students elect to continue living on campus in either the University Village or Global Village apartments. In the event that the number of students requesting to live in on-campus housing exceeds the number of available rooms, residents may be chosen by lottery.

Rent and Utilities

Rent for the University Village Apartments is significantly lower than off-campus housing. Residents do not have to pay "key money" or large deposits as is customary for renting most Japanese apartments. They do, however, have to pay a small fee to have the room cleaned after they leave the room.

Rent and Utilities (Academic Year 2012)

Room Rate: 38,000 JPY/month (usually split between two occupants)
Utility fees are not included.
Cleaning Fee: 8,000 JPY/month (usually split between two occupants)
These fees are subject to change.

※ Please note that exchange students coming from AIU partner schools may only be responsible for some of these fees. For more information, please consult your home institution's study abroad office.
