2012-04-01~06 Article in Sakigake Newspaper
From 1-6 April, the Sakigake Newspaper published a series of articles about CRESI and Yurihonjo City’s joint community revitalization project. It reported that faculty and students from Akita International University and 5 other universities worked on uncovering and promoting local products, and reviving local events, in 9 selected model communities in Yurihonjo City. Since the 3-year project concluded at the end of the 2011 fiscal year, these 9 communities will now implement their revitalization plans while further involving other communities in the future.

2012-02-07 Article in Sakigake Newspaper
The Sakigake Newspaper reported on 4 February 2012’s final debriefing session for the “Project to Implement and Support Yurihonjo City’s Community Revitalization Plan”. CRESI was assigned this project by Yurihonjyo City. The session was held at the Center for Agricultural and Environmental Improvement (Ouchi, Yurihonjo) and about 150 local residents attended. Students of Akita International University, Akita Prefectural University, Tsukuba University, Waseda University, and a representative from each community gave a joint presentation on their achievements. Although the project will conclude at the end of this fiscal year, communities will implement the revitalization plans developed through the project from the beginning of next fiscal year.

2012-02-06 Article in Sakigake Newspaper
The Sakigake Newspaper reported on the “Progress Report Meeting on Akita’s Folk Performing Arts’ Research Project”, held by CRESI's Cultural Affairs team in Kita Akita City’s Exchange Center. The meeting took place on 5th February 2012 and reported on the activities and results of the project through this fiscal year. About 60 participants, including preservation society members for local arts, attended the meeting. CRESI’s Director, Professor Yoshitaka Kumagai, explained about the project and the current situation of traditional folk performing arts in Akita which are in danger of disappearance due to depopulation and ageing. CRESI’s Chief Researcher, Juin Saito also gave a keynote lecture entitled “The Future of Folk Performance Arts”.
