Greeting from the President

Thank you very much for visiting the website of the AIU Alumni Association. I am delighted to serve the first President of "AIU Alumni Association Global Arch" established through cooperation and support of the university, students, and the Parents' Association this special year, 2008, when the first AIU students graduated from the university. I would like to give special thanks to the President Dr. Mineo Nakajima, members of secretariat, and members of the establishment committee of the AIU Alumni Association. Without their support, this new network, the AIU Alumni Association, would not be able to achieve its goals. Thank you again for your commitment.

Through my four years of university life, I have learned a lot of things as a member of the first group of AIU students to graduate from this university started from scratch. It was not only studying, but also other things. I also had great experiences, especially through one year of dormitory life with classmates and the compulsory exchange program, which I think students in other universities can seldom experience.

For current students of AIU and those who will become AIU students, I wish you the best to enjoy fruitful students' life. Remember to keep spirit of challenge all the time and take action! For graduates, I am excited to see you being active both internationally and locally in many fields as cosmopolitan people with global knowledge, based on your liberal arts education and a pioneer of Akita International University.

This AIU Alumni Association is established not only for aims of contributing to the development of AIU and the international and local communities, but also for a purpose of promoting mutual friendship among its members. In order to accomplish these aims, the following programs will be implemented:

  1. Creating closer ties between AIU and members as well as among members of the AIU Alumni Association (running a website, mail magazine, events for 10th anniversary, etc.).
  2. Contribution to the development of AIU
(donation to new facilities, plans for some events, etc)
  3. Active cooperation with programs implemented by AIU
(assistance for AIU festival and volunteering programs, etc.)
  4. Mental and material supports for current students
(job advising, OG/OB visiting and lectures, etc.)
  5. Management and maintenance of members' information
(managing an individual information, updates, maintenance on website based on the laws.)
  6. Other programs which may be required for achieving the above aims.

The AIU Alumni Association has just started, but we would like to do our best to connect AIU to Akita, to Japan, and to the world. In order to make our activities and programs succeed, your support and cooperation will be very important. Please let us know and give us feedback if you have ideas for improving the AIU Alumni Association at any time. Lastly, I wish you all the best and I hope that great happiness may come your way.
